The CO-OPS Collaboration Book of Case Studies for Community Based Obesity Prevention
which features 32 case studies from across Australia is now available in hard copy or can be downloaded electronically from the CO-OPS website. The impetus for this book of case studies came from the 95 participants at the 2009 CO-OPS Collaboration National Workshop. Contributions to the book have come from CO-OPS members who are 'doing the doing' of community-based obesity prevention. We trust that you and the interventions you are working on and will work on into the future, will benefit from the learnings in the case studies presented in this book.

The target group were employers who provided workplace vending machines as part of the food choices made available to their employees. Read more

back to top Did you know there is an Australasian Child & Adolescent Obesity Research Network?
The Australasian Child and Adolescent Obesity Research Network
(ACAORN) was established in 2002. It aims to foster and coordinate research collaboration among Australian and New Zealand child and adolescent obesity research groups to identify key research questions and to seek funding to address them with high quality research. Meet ACAORN members at the CO-OPS 2010 National Workshop.
At the ACAORN website find:
i) a database of Australian longitudinal observational studies related to child and adolescent obesity to improve the understanding of the development and consequences of paediatric overweight and obesity
ii) a database of planned, on-going or completed (within past <5 years) child and adolescent obesity prevention studies in Australasia
iii) a database of registered, on-going, or completed child and adolescent obesity treatment trials in Australasia to learn about effective obesity prevention and treatment programs.
Another online resource is the database on measurement tools for assessing diet and physical activity in children and adolescents.
These resources provide a resource for researchers, and public health and clinical practitioners who need validated or recommended tools when measuring diet and physical activity in children and adolescents. Future plans include the development of a measurement tool database for assessing sedentary behaviour in children and adolescents.
